Future Ready Leadership Essentials | Starts Apr. 30, 2024
The start of the Future Ready Leadership Journey to prepare and train future leaders. FRL Essential content is designed to help individuals at the supervisory or first-time manager level.
A specialized course designed to support supervisory level leaders
The Future Ready Leadership (FRL) Essential Skills program consists of five introductory leadership training courses delivered virtually or face to face one day per month, over five months. This program is developed for frontline supervisors and helps them learn how to transition from ‘buddy to boss’.
As the foundation for the participants’ learning during the program, they will assess themselves on eleven (11) key leadership competencies, competencies required for effective team leadership in any organization. As they progress through the program, they will have several opportunities to assess how the learnings will support their development of these leadership competencies.
To continue to enhance participants’ learning between each course, participants will be required to complete an ‘Apply the Learning’ assignment to reinforce the learnings from the previous session and to prepare them for the upcoming session. In addition, they will be provided with a list of resources, each day, culminating in, by the end of the program, a substantive continuous learning tool.
This course has been designed for participants to learn and develop different leadership competencies over the entire program
Team Leadership
Personal Leadership
Presentation Skills

Throughout the program, we will clearly demonstrate the connection between each day and each topic, ensuring participants feel connected and engaged with content, other participants, guest speakers, and the facilitator
As part of the participants’ learning journey, it’s important for their leaders to support and reinforce the training. MCE will provide a one-hour ‘Making Training Stick’ session for these leaders prior to the rollout of this program. This session will cover roles and responsibilities of leaders and employees before, during, and after the training to ensure the participants have absorbed and applied the learnings.
Participants will learn the skills, tools, opportunities, and challenges associated with being an effective leader, one who is able to develop their own personal leadership as well as lead a team.
Participants will learn a basic communication model and the types of communication. They will learn when to use open-ended and closed-ended questions for a more effective conversation. The barriers to communications and solutions to overcome them will be covered.
Participants will learn how a team moves through various stages of development to become a high-performing team. They will learn the difference between motivation and inspiration and the importance of different levels of delegation and empowerment and when to use each.
Participants will learn how to effectively deal with difficult behaviours by understanding the actions of others. Also, they will learn how to identify personal ‘hot buttons’ and develop strategies to encourage positive behaviour.
In this final day of the program, participants will utilize the knowledge and skills learned in the previous four days to assess progress on their competency development. They will create personal goals and develop a plan to implement them as a part of their leadership journey.
